Content Creation in a Shifting Culture
January 21, 2026, 7:30 pm

This event is sponsored by the International Network of Creatives and is open to all FGCU Students. Admission is Free. Promotions begin soon. Seating is limited.

Summary
Today's Christian creatives are navigating new challenges as they balance their faith with their artistic calling in a rapidly changing cultural landscape, the erratic impact of AI technology, and the uncertainty of career opportunities. Through various media, such as music, visual arts, filmmaking, and digital content, they must adapt their methods to communicate Truth and a Biblical worldview effectively. By exploring new media and engaging diverse audiences, they aim to resonate meaningfully while ensuring their work shines Light in dark places and changes culture.

Creative Conversations Symposium (CCS) provides content creators with a framework for remaining faithful and hopeful, even in a culture that is resistant to a biblical worldview; creating content with an intentional Christian perspective in the modern digital age.

Scotty Curlee, Guest Facilitator
Scotty Curlee is an award-winning Korean American writer, producer, actor, and director specializing in faith, family, and inspirational content. He is known for War Room, Overcomer, and Extraordinary. Curlee works as an Assistant Professor in the Cinematic Arts Department at Liberty University, where he teaches Specialty Producing.

Curlee attended Liberty University to study sports management. He later earned his MBA from Averett University and worked in the pharmaceutical industry. His pursuit of a new passion led him into filmmaking. Jerold Franks, a casting director, introduced him to the film industry. Soon, he wrote, produced, directed, and distributed The Potential Inside.

When the founders of Liberty University’s Cinematic Arts Department invited Curlee to join, he saw it as an opportunity to mentor students and leave a lasting legacy. He teaches students and helps them establish connections within the industry.

His film, The Potential Inside, about a veteran cyclist seeking redemption, earned eight Official Selection nominations across five countries and debuted on the Stars-Encore channel.

Extraordinary, based on a true marriage journey, was released nationwide through a Fathom one-night event and is available on DVD and Digital HD via Universal Home Entertainment. Most recently, Scotty produced Eleanor’s Bench for SONY/Affirm Originals, which is now one of the top shows on the Great American PureFlix platform.

He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Producers Guild of America.

Scotty authored “Losing the Plot: How Secular Stories Are Re-Writing Our Souls,” in which he discusses steps for content creation, its influence on hearts and minds, and how to discern our interactions with it.
